Chronicle Books

In late 2004, I managed the redesign of chroniclebooks.com. My goal was to reflect Chronicle's exceptional aesthetic through the site design, while providing a space where visitors could virtually browse different titles. The homepage was designed to be an editorial "magazine," with new excerpts featured weekly.
The individual book pages were designed to evoke the look and feel of Chronicle's print catalog, an essential piece of Chronicle's existing marketing system. Elements like related titles, reviews, and suggested titles round of each page and help boost sales.
When designing list results, we used a subtle palette and thumbnail images to preserve the visual integrity of the design and keep its focus on the book covers and titles. The site's design provided users with the opportunity to add titles to their cart at every turn.
